Enjoy science films all around the country during National Science Week
You can be part of National Science Week from the comfort of your own home.
By hosting a private screening of SCINEMA International Science Film Festival you can enjoy award-winning science films with your friends and family. Or you could kick back with your colleagues and host a screening at your workplace!
To date, over 340 venues have registered to bring science to their screens as part of the nation’s celebrations of science.
Want to share your love of science on screen? You can host a community public screening at a school, community club, anywhere that has a screen and an internet connection! All you need to do is register your venue for free!
If you host a public screening, your event will get officially listed on the National Science Week website.

If you’re interested in hosting a private or public screening, you can choose from 9 different playlists.
- Best of SCINEMA (1 hr 58 min): Recommended for film and science lovers – featuring the award-winning films from SCINEMA 2018. Please note that this playlist is rated M and contains films with nudity and mild sex scenes.
- Primary school playlist (33 min/1 hr 33 min): Recommended for 5-12 year olds.
- Secondary school playlist (63 min/1 hr 56 min): Recommended for secondary school audiences.
- Body (1 hr 43 min): Recommended for anyone who wants to understand how our bodies work, and how technology is changing the shape of medicine and our minds.
- Environment (2 hr 20 min): Recommended for nature lovers who want to see the beauty of our world and those trying to understand and preserve it.
- Animals (2 hr 40 min): Recommended for lovers of the furry, feathery, scaly and slimy!
- Numbers (1 hr 39 min): Recommended for those curious to see how numbers and data shape our culture and drive our decisions.
- Space (2 hr 25 min): Recommended for everyone fascinated by the universe and our place in it.
- Sci-fi (51 min): Recommended for grown ups. Please note that this playlist is rated M and contains films with nudity and mild sex scenes.
