CSIRAC was the first computer ever built in Australia, and was only the fourth built anywhere in the world.
From its humble beginnings – a room-sized computer with mercury tube memory and a 2.5kb hard drive, we’re now rapidly heading towards quantum computing. But they all draw their lineage back to this computer in 1949.
Now the oldest surviving electrical computer in the world, it is on display at Scienceworks.
