Rebecca Wellard from Curtin University wowed the FameLab Australia audience with her story of whale accents. According to her research killer whales sound different depending on where they live.
Killer whales are known to not stay in one spot for too long, which makes them difficult to study. However, through passive acoustic monitoring, Rebecca Wellard and her team have found a way to eavesdrop on these mobile creatures.
